01Who we are
Campus Momentum (Campus Momentum Missions) is a mission organisation based at 172 Udo Umana Road, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. We decide how personal data collected through campusmomentum.com is used, so we are the data controller under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA).
This notice covers this website, its forms, online giving, and the emails and WhatsApp conversations that start from it. Questions about it go to hello@campusmomentum.com.
02What we collect
What you give us
- Trip applications: name, WhatsApp number, email, institution or profession, church, the trip teams you want to serve on, whether you need a sponsor, how you heard about us, any message, and your consent.
- Enquiries (chapters, partnership, Healing Hands, contact, registering interest): name, phone, email, who you are (student, professional, church and so on), institution and your message.
- Field updates: your email address.
- Gifts: your name, email, optional WhatsApp number, the amount, currency and what the gift is for.
What we receive automatically
- With forms: your IP address and browser type, used to stop spam and abuse.
- From Paystack after a gift: the payment reference, amount, currency, status and payment channel. We never see or store your card number or bank login.
- Cookies and similar storage, described in Cookies. Analytics only runs if you agree to it.
03How we use it, and why we may
- To consider and prepare your trip application, contact you, check references, arrange the briefing and plan logistics. Basis: your consent and steps you ask us to take before you join a trip.
- To reply to enquiries and follow up on chapters, partnerships and training. Basis: our legitimate interest in answering you.
- To process gifts, send receipts, thank you and report how gifts were used. Basis: performing the transaction, and the law for financial records.
- To send field updates you asked for. Basis: consent. Reply “unsubscribe” or email us and we remove you.
- To keep the site secure and stop fraud and spam. Basis: legitimate interest.
- To understand which pages help people go, give and pray, through Google Analytics (loaded by Google Tag Manager) and Microsoft Clarity (anonymous page heatmaps and session replays, with form fields masked). Basis: consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
We do not sell personal data, use it for advertising, or make decisions about you by automated means alone.
04Who sees it
Inside Campus Momentum, only the people who need it: applications go to the Executive Secretary’s office and the trip leadership; gifts to the Director of Finance; enquiries to the inbox for that kind of enquiry.
We use trusted service providers who process data for us under contract:
- Vercel hosts the website and measures page performance without cookies.
- Our database and file storage providers keep the site’s content and form submissions.
- Google: a Google Sheet owned by Campus Momentum receives trip applications; Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics, if you consent.
- Microsoft: Clarity, if you consent.
- Paystack processes online gifts under its own privacy policy.
- Resend delivers our confirmation and receipt emails.
- Cloudflare Turnstile checks that forms are sent by people, not bots.
- YouTube plays our videos from its privacy-enhanced domain, and only after you press play.
- WhatsApp carries any conversation you choose to start with us.
For accepted volunteers, we may share your name and the details needed for safety and logistics with the partner church or agency hosting the trip. We tell you before we do.
We disclose data to authorities only when the law requires it.
05Data that leaves Nigeria
Some of our providers store data in other countries, including the United States and the European Union. Where that happens we rely on the safeguards the NDPA allows, such as the provider’s contractual commitments to protect personal data to a standard comparable to Nigerian law.
06How long we keep it
- Applications and enquiries: 24 months, after which names, contact details, messages and IP addresses are anonymised automatically.
- Field update subscriptions: until you unsubscribe.
- Gift records: for as long as Nigerian accounting and tax rules require, normally six years.
- Cookie choice: 12 months, then we ask again.
08Your rights
Under the NDPA you can ask us to:
- tell you what personal data we hold about you and give you a copy;
- correct anything that is wrong or incomplete;
- delete your data, or restrict how we use it;
- send your data to you or another organisation in a common format;
- stop using your data where we rely on legitimate interest;
- withdraw consent you gave, without affecting what we did before.
Email hello@campusmomentum.com. We reply within 30 days and may ask you to confirm who you are first. It costs nothing.
If you are unhappy with how we handled your data, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission at ndpc.gov.ng. We would welcome the chance to put it right first.
09Young people
Applicants under 18 need a parent or guardian’s written consent before they can join a trip, and we may contact the parent or guardian directly. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13 through this website.
10Keeping it safe
The site runs over HTTPS. Access to submissions is limited by role to the people named above. Forms are rate-limited and bot-checked, and old records are anonymised automatically. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach puts your data at risk, we will tell you and the regulator as the law requires.
11Changes to this notice
We will update this page when our practices change and show the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will say so on the site.
